Roy Brandon, permanently licensed guide since 1999. Born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina and then moved to Charleston in 1994; holds an undergraduate degree in History from the College of Charleston, class of 2007. Worked as a docent at the
Heyward-Washington house museum (1998-2003) and the Charleston Museum (2000-2005). Currently assists local writers as a researcher of South Carolina history.
George Kontos, permanently licensed guide since 1993. Born and raised in upstate New York and moved to Charleston with his family in 1984—pretty much a Charlestonian native now! One of our most requested guides—we recruited him from a different company some years ago after learning of his talents--he tells thirteen stories each tour almost every time…
Vandell “Van” Leak, permanently licensed guide since 2002. Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN; holds an undergraduate degree in Business and Industry Education & Environmental Science from the University of Minnesota, class of 1998. Moved to Charleston in 1999 where he has guided tours on a full-time basis at Classic Carriage Tours since 2002. Worked on film projects in the Charleston area including Cold Mountain (2002) and The Notebook (2003).
John Perk, permanently licensed guide since 2005. Born and raised in Atlanta,
GA; will be receiving an undergraduate degree in History from the College of Charleston in 2009. Works as a docent at the Old Exchange Building & Provost Dungeon and assists with running boat tours at the Charleston Maritime Center.
Mike Coker, permanently licensed guide since 1997. Born and raised in Goose Creek, SC; holds an undergraduate degree in History from the College of Charleston, class of 2006. Has worked for the South Carolina Historical Society in Charleston since 2000 as the Visual Materials Curator. Writes a monthly history column for Charleston Magazine and co-authored Historic South Carolina: An Illustrated History (2006). Authored the book Charleston Curiosities: Stories ofthe Tragic, Heroic, and Bizarre (2008).
Jon Jackson, permanently licensed guide since 1995. Born and raised in Summerville, SC; holds an undergraduate degree in History from the College of Charleston, class of 1997. He worked for three different tour companies over the past 12 years conducting horse-drawn carriage tours. Avid fan of World War II naval history.
